Education Minister announces results of second re-sit exams for grade 9 students

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Education Minister, has announced that the marking of the second re-sit exams for the third intermediate students who had failed to pass their exams last year or the previous years has been completed.

The minister unveiled that 90 out of the 126 students who sat the second re-sit exam had passed, with a success rate of 71%, noting that the remaining 36 students either failed again or missed their exams.

Dr. Juma expressed delight at the results, confirming the effectiveness of holding a third round for failing students.

He congratulated those who passed their second re-sit exams, adding that they will receive their certificates from their intermediate schools and join secondary schools.

Regarding the re-sit exams for secondary and technical students, the Education Minister said that the marking process is underway and that their results will be announced by the end of next week.

Bahrain participates in G77 + China Summit

Deputised by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, has participated in Group 77 plus China (G77 + China) Summit on “Science, Technology and Innovation”.

Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, in addition to presidents and heads of governments of the Group Member states, attended the summit, held in Havana, Cuba.

Addressing a session held today, the Foreign Affairs Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Cuban President, as well as their wishes for success to the summit.

Dr. Al-Zayani said that the kingdom stresses the importance of the role played by G77 + China in promoting effective international cooperation, reiterating Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation in science, technology and innovation, in addition to all necessary development fields, out of its belief that the challenges facing developing countries can be turned into real work opportunities, through unifying efforts, energies and capabilities.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain, as a pacifist country, constantly seeks to promote peace in the region, and harmonious coexistence among all the its diverse peoples,” he said, noting that the kingdom’s goal is to create a safe, sustainable environment in which differences in religion, sect, race, creed, or ideology do not hinder progress, or prevent the pursuit of peaceful relations.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain believes in the importance of protecting and promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms for all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds or beliefs,” he added.

“In today's complex world, which is characterised by many challenges and conflicts, it is necessary to reaffirm our commitment to peaceful means of resolving conflicts and promoting understanding among nations,” he said, adding that “the Kingdom of Bahrain firmly believes that dialogue, mutual respect and cooperation are the basic pillars of achieving sustainable peace and stability.”

The Foreign Affairs Minister called on G77 + China to step up its collective efforts to address the pressing issues facing developing countries, noting that the kingdom recognises the importance of comprehensive and equitable development in guaranteeing the well-being of all individuals and leaving no one behind.

He also indicated that Bahrain believes that empowering people, especially the most vulnerable, and promoting sustainable economic growth, will achieve stability and prosperity for all.

“Bahrain believes in the importance of investing in knowledge-based industries to build a sustainable competitive economy. Through its national strategy for the communications and information technology sector and the digital economy, the kingdom affirms its commitment to devoting a culture of innovation and research, and benefiting from science and technology as tools to enhance productivity, promote entrepreneurship, confront societal challenges, and focus on vital areas such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence and digital transformation,” he added.

He indicated that, based on its belief in the principles of international cooperation, Bahrain renews its call to involve governments and regional organisations in formulating sustainable solutions to crises, exchanging best practices, and supporting initiatives that bridge the gaps between developing countries and developed ones to ensure that the benefits of scientific progress are accessible to all, which will pave the way for achieving the common vision of creating a peaceful and prosperous world capable of facing challenges.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad attends opening ceremony of 2023 World Wrestling Championships

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, today attended the opening ceremony of the 2023 World Wrestling Championships.

His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, GSA Deputy Chairman, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Zoran Gajic, Serbian Sports Minister, Bozidar Maljkovic, Serbian National Olympic Committee President, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, GSA’s CEO, and Fares Mustafa Al-Kooheji, BOC Secretary-General, were present.

HH Shaikh Khalid expressed his pleasure at attending the opening ceremony, based on the official invitation he had received.

His Highness praised the outstanding success of the ceremony and the massive presence of sports leaders and representatives of wrestling associations from various countries.

HH Shaikh Khalid affirmed the distinguished status enjoyed by Serbia in the sports fields, which entitles it to host various international championships, wishing it a successful organisation of the 2023 World Wrestling Championships.

HH Shaikh Khalid: Bahrain keen to enhance sports cooperation with other countries

The General Sports Authority (GSA) and the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Serbian Ministry of Sports and National Olympic Committee (NOC).

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the official visit of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman, GSA Chairman and BOC President, and HH’s accompanying delegation to Serbia to attend the 2023 World Wrestling Championships.

On the occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed delight over the signing of the MoU with Serbia’s Ministry of Sports and NOC, noting that the agreement will pave the way for exchanging expertise and experiences, organising training camps, enhancing prospects for cooperation in various sports, and benefiting from Serbia’s capabilities in the technical, administrative and medical fields.

His Highness affirmed that the MoU is in line with the keenness of the GSA and BOC to open up cooperation horizons with various developed countries in the sports field, including Serbia, which boasts advanced sporting capabilities for training players, refining talent and training coaches, in addition to high-quality infrastructure and playgrounds for training camps, expressing hope that the agreement will contribute to achieving the common interests of both countries.

Nasser AI Centre to participate in second Arab International Cybersecurity Summit

The Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre (NAIRDC), the research and development arm of the Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC), will participate in the second edition of the Arab International Cybersecurity Summit (AICS), which will be hosted by the kingdom, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Exhibition World Bahrain on December 5-6.

This year’s edition provides an ideal platform for cybersecurity professionals, policymakers, researchers and industry leaders to exchange knowledge and insights about the constantly evolving cyber ecosystem, by enabling global cooperation in this field. It aims to enhance collective resilience against cyber threats and create a safer digital environment for individuals, companies and governments all over the world.

On the occasion, Dr. Abdulla bin Nasser Al-Noaimi, NAIRDC Executive Director, said that cybersecurity is one of NAIRDC’s most important priorities.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the foundations of development and technological progress with a digital security system enhanced by artificial intelligence techniques through the development of cyberthreat detection systems that can detect unusual and suspicious activities faster and more accurately, as well as discover and predict threat patterns, and integrate the two fields to ensure digital safety and sustainability, on the one hand, and enable organisations to develop security strategies that allow them to combat future threats more effectively, on the other.

"We are proud to be one of the official partners of this important forum that brings together the leaders of the technology system in the region and provides the opportunity to invest in cybersecurity and the development of digital systems and infrastructure,” he said.

Cuban President receives Foreign Affairs Minister

Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, received here today Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, on the sidelines of the kingdom’s participation in the Group 77 plus China (G77 + China) Summit on “Science, Technology and Innovation”.

The Foreign Affairs Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Cuban President, as well as their wishes for continued progress and prosperity to the Cuban people.

The Cuban President requested the Foreign Affairs Minister to convey his greetings and appreciation to HM King Hamad and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in addition to his wishes for further progress and prosperity to Bahrain and its people.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Bahrain for participating in the G77 + China Summit.

Global Council for Tolerance and Peace President hails Bahrain’s role in Voluntary work

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, has praised the role of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in further enhancing and supporting Voluntary work at the Arab and international levels.

Al Jarwan was honoured with HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work.

He noted that this award represents an incentive to encourage and spread the culture of voluntary work and highlight its moral value as a national and humanitarian duty.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Jarwan praised the Bahraini-UAE ties in various fields, which support and enhance joint Arab action.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work is awarded in September of each year, in conjunction with the Arab Volunteer Day celebrations, and is organised by the Good Word Society in cooperation with the Arab Volunteer Union.

The award aims to encourage volunteers to provide innovative solutions through volunteer work that contributes to confronting various challenges and crises activating their roles in the field of voluntary work as well as promoting its culture.

Labor Ministry Undersecretary honours dedicated “Apparel Bahrain” employees

His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour, was deputised by Jameel bin Mohammad Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour to attend a ceremony honoring 50 Bahraini employees and new employees in the "Apparel Bahrain Trading" group, in addition to honoring the best Bahraini managers of its affiliated stores during the past three months.

Neeraj Teckchandani, CEO of Apparel Group was present.

The Apparel Group is one of the companies that supports initiatives to employ Bahrainis during the year 2023, as during the current year it employed (81) Bahraini citizens in various jobs in its branches in Bahrain, out of (120) Bahrainis working for the group, raising the Bahrainisation rate in the group to 34%.

HH Shaikh Khalifa awarded the managers and employees with certificates as well as meeting newly appointed ones.

He affirmed the ministry’s pride in the contributions of the national workforce in various productive sectors.

HH wished them success in their professional career.

Teckchandani announced that the company has plans to expand its business in Bahrain due to its attractive investment environment and advanced legislation.

He noted the competent and qualified national workforce to occupy leadership, supervisory, and administrative positions in the group’s various departments and divisions.
