QU Announces Dates for its Individual College Graduation Ceremonies for Class of 2023 Female Students

Qatar University (QU) announced in a statement that it will organize separate graduation ceremonies for its Class of 2023 female students, organized by respective colleges following the main graduation ceremonies scheduled for May 8 and 9.

QU elaborated that female student graduation ceremonies are going to take place in the QU Sports and Events Complex, starting from Tuesday, May 9, and conclude on Saturday, May 13.

According to the schedule, the graduation ceremony for female students of the College of Education will be held on the evening of May 9.

As for the Colleges of Health Sciences, Pharmacy, and Medicine, their graduation ceremony will be held on the morning of May 10.

Whereas the graduation ceremony for female students of the Colleges of Sharia, Engineering, and Law will be held during the evening of May 10.

The graduation ceremony of the Class of 2023 will include graduates of the following semesters: Summer 2022, Fall 2022 and Winter 2023, in addition to those who are expected to graduate by the end of Spring 2023.

QU noted that graduates of Summer 2023 will celebrate their graduation with the Class of 2024.

The University had announced at an earlier time that the two main graduation ceremonies for the 46th batch (Batch of 2023) will be held on May 8, for Male students and May 9, for outstanding female students.

This batch's number of graduates will reach 3231 male and female students, including 2652 female graduates and 579 male graduates.

EAA, Awqaf Host Iftar for Outstanding Students of Youth Scholarships Programme

The Education Above All Foundation (EAA) and the General Directorate of Endowments (Awqaf) hosted a celebratory Iftar at the Qatar National Convention Centre for beneficiaries of the Qatar Scholarship programme. The ceremony welcomed 39 new scholarship recipients, congratulated 18 graduates, and celebrated 25 students for their excellence in academic performance for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Education Above All was honored to welcome representatives from partner organizations, universities, and embassies, including Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Yemens Minister of Education Tariq Al Akbari, EAAs CEO Fahad Al Sulaiti, and President of the University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi. The event drew over 200 attendees, including students and their families, faculty of local universities including Qatar University, Hamad bin Khalifa University, Oryx University in partnership with Liverpool, Lusail University, and the Global Studies Institute, and representatives from the embassies of Yemen, Palestine, Sudan, and Jordan.

The Qatar Scholarship Programme in Qatar (QSQ) aims to provide youth aged 17 to 25, who have spent most of their formative years in Qatar, with access to higher education. The QSQ is a needs-based scholarship offered by EAA, through its Al Fakhoora program, to deserving expatriate youth in Qatar. Recipients are supported to attend distinguished universities in the country, including existing partnerships, Qatar University, Al Rayyan International University College, University of Doha for Science and Technology, University of Calgary in Qatar, Also announced new partnerships with, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Oryx University in partnership with Liverpool, Lusail University, Global Studies Institute, and partner universities of Qatar Foundation (QF). EAA also partners with Silatech to link graduates to employment. The programme is implemented by EAA and made possible with the support of the Endowment Account for Scientific and Cultural Development in the General Department of Endowments - Awqaf.

GORD Signs MoU with GV Investment Group

The Gulf Organization for Research & Development (GORD) and the GV Investment Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in applying the standards of the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) and promoting sustainable solutions in Egypt.

Founding Chairman of GORD Dr. Yousef bin Mohammed Alhorr and Chairman of the GV Investment Group Sherif Hamouda signed the agreement at the GORD's headquarters in Qatar Science and Technology Park.

Under the MoU, the GORD and the GV Group will cooperate in several areas aimed at accelerating climate action and promoting a sustainable urban environment in Egyptian society, with a focus on applying the GSAS standards in the city of Tarboul, the largest industrial city in Egypt.

Dr. Alhorr said the partnership represents a milestone for the GORD as it seeks to spread green building concepts and expand the scope of work with the GSAS system in Egypt, pointing out that facing climate challenges in the region requires diligent cooperation and exchange of common experiences between countries, institutions and stakeholders.

For his part, Hamouda said that investing in sustainable projects is one of the group's main goals in Egypt, and adopting GSAS standards and applying them in projects is an additional value for the group in particular and for Egypt in general. He added that the GORD will become a strategic partner for the industrial city of Tarboul, pointing out that the partnership with the GORD in the field of environmental sustainability will help the GV group achieve climate goals and establish world-class sustainable real estate projects.

The Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) was established in 2009 and is a green building certification system developed for GCC countries.

Qatar Stock Exchange Drops 0.92 Percent

Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index dropped 94.89 points, or 0.92 percent to close trading at 10,213.34 points on Wednesday.

The volume of shares traded increased to 228,461,650 from 204,226,600 on Tuesday and the value of shares increased to QR642,419,110.69 from QR532,787,914.72 on Tuesday.

The indices of two sectors ended in green zone and five sectors ended in red zone today. QSE Total Return Index down 0.92 percent to 21,919.25, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index lost 0.71 percent to 4,561.59 points and QSE All Share Index decreased 0.88 percent to 3,415.99 points.

Jordanian King Discusses Bilateral Relations with Lebanon Foreign Minister

King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed with visiting Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib ways to expand cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the latest regional and international developments, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, stressing the importance of the international community assuming its responsibilities towards the Syrian refugees, especially in the host countries.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces Major General Yousef Al Hunaiti met on Wednesday with Minister of Defense of Iraq Thabet Mohammad Al Absi, who is visiting Jordan.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries, in addition to recent regional and international developments.

Sultan of Oman Sends Written Message to President of Kazakhstan

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman has sent a written message to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, pertaining to bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing and developing them.

The message was handed to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Tumysh during a meeting today with Omani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mohammed Abdullah Al Bahrani.
