The State of Qatar welcomed the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in coordination with the Sultanate of Oman to achieve peace in the sisterly Republic of Yemen, considering that extending an invitation to a Yemeni delegation to visit the Kingdom to resume the meetings and discussions held in Sanaa in April, an important step on the path to a comprehensive political solution.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar's hope that the talks hosted by the capital, Riyadh, would culminate in a permanent ceasefire and the strengthening of efforts aimed at establishing a sustainable peace to meet the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people for security, development, and prosperity.
The Ministry renewed the State of Qatar's stance calling for resolving the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Initiative and the relevant Security Council resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution 2,216.
