National Earthquake Center records nine weak aftershocks during past 24 hours

National Earthquake Center has announced that nine weak aftershoks of less than 4 magnitudes on the Richter Scales were recorded over the past 24 hours.

The center said in a statement that the stations of the National Earthquake Monitoring Network recorded at 7:04 a.m. on Thursday five tremors in Liwa Iskenderun ranging between 1.8 and 3.3 magnitudes on the Richter Scale, as well as two tremors in Turkey with 3.1. and 3.3 magnitudes.

The center noted in a statement that five tremors, 40 to 43 km northwest of Lattakia, measuring between 2.2 and 3.7 magnitudes, a tremor in northeastern Lebanon of 1.6 magnitudes, and a tremor south of Quneitra, 17 km with 1.8 magnitudes.

Two tremors on the Turkish mainland, the largest of which was 3.9 magnitudes, the center added.

The center affirmed that all those tremors, in terms of number, location and magnitudes, are within the expected probability of them, according to the studies prepared at the center.
