IRAQ: EVACUATION OF 14 CITIZENS FROM KHARTOUM AND COORDINATION BETWEEN OUR EMBASSIES IN 3 COUNTRIES TO EVACUATE THE OTHERS

"Russia Today" quoted Sunday the spokesman for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, as saying that 14 Iraqis had been evacuated from Khartoum to Port Sudan.

Al-Sahhaf said in press statements that "14 Iraqis were evacuated from Khartoum to a safe location in the Port Sudan region, at their request," noting that "this was done under the supervision of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein."

He added, "We are continuing our multilateral efforts to evacuate the remaining numbers. We are working with a national response and coordinating around the clock with the people of the honorable community in Khartoum."

Al-Sahhaf called on "the Iraqi community in Khartoum to register immediately to return to Iraq, by contacting the numbers of the embassy there," and expressed his thanks for "the efforts of brotherly countries in cooperation to make the evacuation of Iraqis in Khartoum a success."
