Canada announced Sunday that it had temporarily suspended its diplomatic activities in Sudan.

A decision has been made to temporarily suspend operations in Sudan, while limited consular services will continue, the Canadian government said in a statement, adding that Canadian diplomats will temporarily operate from a safe location outside Sudan.

The statement added that Canadian diplomats will continue working with the Sudan government, neighboring countries and international community to coordinate the response to this crisis, urging all parties to immediately ceasefire and engage in mediation efforts supported by the regional partners that promote permanent dialogue and peace.
