Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, on Wednesday highlighted the need to ‘think about developing policies that simulate the specificity of the Lebanese diaspora geographically, and perhaps sectorally and professionally, in an attempt to benefit from them by means of meeting their aspirations.’ Bou Habib further called for a workshop between the Beirut Bar Association and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants to develop a roadmap in favor of Lebanese emigrants. The Foreign Minister then welcomed the Beirut Bar Association’s contribution, in cooperation with the House of Parliament, to any future workshop to update expatriate laws. Minister Bou Habib’s words came during his inauguration of a conference titled ‘The Lebanese Expatriate – Reality and Challenges” marking the “International Day of the Lebanese Expatriate”, at the invitation of Nader KasBar, President of the Beirut Bar Association, and the Lebanese Expatriate Rights Protection Committee, at the Beirut Bar Association.
