MP Pierre Bou Assi met on Thursday with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, prior to her trip to New York to submit the annual reports on UN Resolution 1701. During the meeting, the "Strong Republic" bloc member stressed the necessity of ending the presidential vacuum while respecting the constitutional mechanisms. He also underlined the obligation to abide by the provision of Resolution 1701 "to eradicate the hotbeds of tension along the southern border." Moreover, he sounded the alarm on the threat posed by the massive presence of displaced Syrians in Lebanon, urging the international community to adopt an approach that aims at repatriating them in the nearest time possible.
