Eng. Arnous discusses with Al-Musallam ways to support swimming sport in Syria

Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, stressed the importance of investing in sports in boosting relations among different countries and peoples.

During his meeting with Husain Al-Musallam, President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), Arnous pointed out the government’s readiness to provide facilities for the sports activities to be established in the future in cooperation between the General Sports Federation in Syria and the International Swimming Federation.

Arnous said that there are many sports facilities for swimming in the Syrian cities to establish any sporting activity targeting youth.

For his part, Al-Musallam expressed the readiness of the International Federation of Water Sports in Syria to develop the sport of swimming, and said that sport is based on the foundations of peace, friendship and cooperation in the interest of people.

MOPH: 61 NEW CORONA CASES, 1 DEATH

In a report published today on Corona cases, the Ministry of Public Health announced the registration of 61 new infections, which raised the cumulative number of confirmed cases to-date to 1,237,556, with one death recorded during the past 24 hours.

Bahrain-Saudi Business Council discusses investment opportunities

Saudi Investment Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Falih stressed the importance of Bahrain and Saudi projects in the private sector as an engine to spur growth.

He hailed the advanced level of investment cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi, Crown Prince and Prime Minister to set up a fund specialized in promoting investments in Bahrain.

He noted that the initiative aims to invest up to $5 billion in key economic sectors in both countries. Joint platforms will also be set up in Bahrain to showcase feasible investment opportunities.

"A special portal for Bahraini investors with priority will also be launched", said Al Falih, noting that tourism integration between the two countries will also be revitalized.

Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi stressed Bahrain's keenness on creating investment opportunities that contributed to developing vital sectors and spurring growth.

Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Chairman, Head of the Bahrain-Saudi Business Council, Sameer bin Abdulla Nass, hailed strong ties binding the two countries.

He noted that the council's meeting reflects commitment to further economic relations, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

He hailed the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in advocating political and economic issues which contributes to furthering development and prosperity for the GCC nationals.

Addressing the fifth meeting of the council, he noted that the overall volume of trade exchanges between the two neighboring countries topped $3.9 billion in 2022. Bahrain's exports topped $3 billion, making the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the biggest partner for Bahrain's exports and the 7th for imports.

Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, The Saudi Chambers Union and the Saudi Bahrain Business Council also took part in the meeting, in the presence of Saudi Investment Minister, Bahrain's Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and other senior officials.

Head of the Saudi side in the council Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al Otaishan said that there are great opportunities to increase the volume of trade exchanges, indicating that this meeting with Saudi Bahraini business owners comes within the framework of strengthening and activating cooperation with the aim of developing trade and investment relations between the two countries.

The session focused on major development projects, key economic strategies, current developments and efforts to mitigate difficulties curbing exports, in addition to a recommendation to reactivate Al Khobar seaport to transport passengers and merchandise.

The two sides agreed to form a working group to follow up with the King Fahd Causeway Authority regarding exports and imports, issues related to investments and real estate projects to address the obstacles facing the development of partnership and cooperation between the private sector

They stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation regarding studies and research procedures related to investments, emphasizing the need to activate cooperation between the two sides to promote tourism investments.

Mumtalakat CEO Meets Saudi Minister of Investment

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa met Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid A. Al-Falih, during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The two sides explored new areas of cooperation with Saudi Arabia's sovereign investment institutions, as well as investment opportunities within Mumtalakat's portfolio companies.

Their highlighted their roles and contributions to the national economy by operating in leading economic sectors and supporting local employment.

Shaikh Abdulla emphasised the significant role of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council in strengthening the economic ties between the two countries, which contributes to the fulfilment of the leadership's vision and objectives in both kingdoms.

Mumtalakat holds stakes in over 50 companies with a portfolio spanning a variety of sectors, including industrial manufacturing, financial services, telecommunications, real estate, logistics, consumer products, healthcare and education.

Information Minister praises award’s role in developing journalism

Minister of Information Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al-Noaimi has asserted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, accords great importance to freedom of expression and journalism, within the framework of the national fundamentals.

Speaking to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), on the sidelines of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism ceremony, which was held today, the Minister of Information expressed honor in HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s patronage of the award. He affirmed that the award reflects keenness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support journalism and its key development role. He also commended the approach of HM the King in supporting Bahrain press.

The Minister of Information congratulated BNA on its photographer Yousif Tulefat’s winning of the "Best Photography Award" in the seventh edition of the Prime Minister's Award for Journalism. He expressed keenness on continuous development of the award to boost competition to deliver the best.

Education Minister honours RCSI-Bahrain art contest winners

Education Minister, Higher Education Council (HEC) Board of Trustees' Chairman, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma honoured the winners of the competition which was organized at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain. The Minister of Education patronized the contest in its 2022-2023 edition, under the theme "Who is the Nurse". Budding artists from ten boys and girls' secondary schools took part in the competition.

Dorra Al Sayyed Adnan, from Saar Secondary Girls' School topped the competition, followed by Hassan Sami Al Asfoor, from Al Naim Secondary Boys' School, and Zahra Mahdi from Saar Secondary Girls School, whoch ranked second and third respectively.

The minister congratulated the winners, commended the initiative of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain in organizing the contest which plays an important role in benefiting from artistic talent to raise health awareness, focusing this year on the humanitarian nursing profession.

The President RCSI Bahrain, Professor Sameer Otoom, thanked the minister for patronizing the event, commending the ministry's policy in building partnerships between higher education institutions. He also praised students' artworks which showcased the humanitarian role of nurses.

RCSI Bahrain Vice President for Academic Affairs Professor Alfred Nicholson stressed the importance of partnership between higher education institutions and schools in supporting students and tapping into their talents.

Saar Secondary Girls School Principal Hashemya Sayyed Sharf also addressed the ceremony on this occasion. Dr. Juma and other senior officials toured the exhibition which showcases the students' artworks, in addition to corner for RCSI Bahrain students, highlighting key issues, including healthy diets.

LMRA conducts a joint inspection campaign in the Northern Governorate

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted a joint inspection campaign in the Northern Governorate, in coordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and the Governorate’s respective Police Directorate.

The campaign resulted in reporting a number of violations related to the Labour Market and Residency laws. The cases were referred for legal action.

The LMRA stressed its commitment to report any violation through a continuous and intensive inspection plan, in coordination with the relevant government entities.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority renewed its call on all members of the society to support the efforts of government agencies in addressing by reporting violations via the electronic form on LMRA’s website www.lmra.gov.bh or by calling the authority’s call centre on 17506055.

Draft state budget plan for the fiscal years 2023-2024 discussed

A joint meeting bringing together the executive and legislative branches was held today to discuss the draft law approving the state’s general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024, attached to Decree No. (34) of 2023.

Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam and Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh co-chaired the session with the Minister of Finance and National Economy Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The government team stated a presentation detailing public revenues, in addition to the plans and programs that will be approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to implement a number of projects included in the draft law.

The plan featured a number of housing projects in various governorates and a review of the finance services provided by the Ministry.

The session stressed the importance of sustaining the provision of housing services to citizens with the highest degree of efficiency, preserving the gains and continuing to support the various services programs in a way that contributes to achieving Bahraini families' stability.

The legislative side gave a feedback on the draft law approving the state's general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024. The queries raised by the Financial and Economic Affairs Committees in the two councils about the draft general budget law were also clarified by the government team.

The two sides reiterated commitment to giving full priority to citizens above all other considerations, in development plans and programmes. They stressed the importance of harnessing all their joint efforts and working in a team spirit in order to come up with consensus to approve the draft general state budget for the two fiscal years 2023-2024 as soon as possible.
