Zayed Giving Initiative launches voluntary medical convoys for 2013

WAM Abu Dhabi, Jan 3rd, 2013 (WAM) — The Zayed Giving Initiative has launched ‘Voluntary Medical Convoys’ campaign at the advent of 2013 to provide diagnostic and preventive therapeutic services for the early detection of heart and chronic diseases in different segments of the society specially children and elderly people.

A number of senior Emirati surgeons will participate in this one-year drive which is aimed at fostering the culture of voluntary work of the medical professionals in the framework of a partnership program which boosts community partnership among the government, private and non-profit organisations.

The nation wide campaign, held in partnership with the Arab Union for Voluntary Work and Emirates voluntary program under the title ”Together towards a healthy community”, comes in light of the giving care initiative for the community’s health and to complement the Zayed Giving Initiatives locally and internationally.

Under the move awareness and diagnostic free programs will be carried out for thousands of people suffering from heart diseases hailing from different segments of the society, as well as organizing workshop and scientific conferences.

The campaign affirms the leading role of Zayed Giving Initiative in spreading health and cultural awareness among different communities and people, through strategic partnership with various government, semi government, private institutions and civil society in response to the call of the wise leadership led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan leadership for social cohesion.

Emirati Surgeon Dr Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Giving Initiative, Executive Director of Emirates Mobile Hospital said that the campaign targets thousands of people in order to increase their awareness on main causes of chronic cardiac diseases and their prevention, pointing that UAE and International voluntary medical teams have conducted comprehensive diagnostic tests to detect heart diseases.

He added that the campaign includes organizing awareness seminars in different emirates and free diagnostic for a large number of children and women nationwide.
