US-Mexican Talks on Immigration, Security Issues

Government & Politics

Mexico’s Foreign Secretary Alicia Barcena discussed with her US counterpart Anthony Blinken, during a phone call today, cooperation on immigration and security issues.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two sides discussed the upcoming economic dialogue between the two countries, as well as a tripartite meeting with Canada.

The issue of immigration and security is one of the most important challenges governing relations between the United States and Mexico, as their common border is one of the longest borders between two countries in the world, which makes monitoring it difficult, especially with the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States.
