UN Condemns Israeli Strikes On Gaza, Jabalia Camp

New York, November 01 - The United Nations condemned, today, the airstrikes that targeted the Jabalia camp in the Gaza Strip, resulting in dozens of Palestinian casualties in an Israeli attack on Gaza yesterday.

Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, said in a press statement that it was the latest atrocity to befall the people of Gaza where the fighting has entered an even more terrifying phase, with increasingly dreadful humanitarian consequences. He added that the world seems unable, or unwilling, to act and that this cannot go on.

The statement from the UN's Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator comes after a two-day visit to the region.

Israeli occupation aircraft completely bombed a residential neighborhood, launching 20 rockets and 6 large bombs with destructive capabilities on a residential area consisting of 20 houses in Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip, at least yesterday evening, destroying them along with their inhabitants.

This resulted in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of Palestinian civilians, most of whom were children and women.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced today that the number of martyrs due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has risen to 8,800.

The ministry stated in a press release that among the martyrs are 3,648 children and 2,290 women. Additionally, the number of wounded has exceeded 21,000, and more than 2,000 reports have been received about people missing under the rubble, with approximately half of them being children.
