A Ukrainian drone attack set an oil refinery in Russia’s Kaluga region on fire in the early hours of Friday.
Several explosions were heard in the Dzerzhinsky district of the Kaluga region, which borders the broader Moscow region.
Vladislav Shapsha, governor of the Kaluga region, said that the fire was promptly extinguished, and the extent of the damage was still being assessed.
Ukraine has stepped up its drone attacks on oil processing facilities in Russia since the start of the year, disrupting 15% of Russia’s oil refining capacity according to an estimate by a NATO official.
