UAE, UK advance consular cooperation.

The sixth edition of the Joint-UAE-UK Consular Committee convened in London yesterday to further advance the privileged relations between the two countries.

The meeting was chaired by Ahmed Ilhamn Al Dhaheri, the Assistant Under - Secretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Julia Longbottom, Director for Consular Affairs in the UK's Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Initiating the meeting, Al Dhaheri conveyed the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and their affirmation of the importance of continuing to deepen bilateral relations at the consular level to the best interests of both sides.

UK remains to be a favoured destination for Emiratis, a fact which is affirmed by the increasing UAE tourist arrivals in UK on a yearly basis," he said, noting that the UAE is a preferred destination for Britons as well.

The British official hailed the advantages received by Britons visiting and staying in the UAE, saying that such advantages help increase the number of British people visiting the UAE.

The meeting addressed an array of issues related to improving consular services and extending the periods of residence for UAE and UK nationals when visiting both countries.
