The UAE � Greece Cultural Week was launched today in the Greek capital, Athens, and will continue until 26th October, amidst attendance and interaction between Emiratis and a large Greek audience.
The activities of the UAE � Greece Cultural Week have been organised by the UAE Embassy in Greece, in coordination with the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunication and Media in the Republic of Greece and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Zayed University.
The launch was attended by Sheikh Salem Khalid Al Qassimi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Knowledge Development of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development; Mohammed Mir Abdullah Al-Raisi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Greece; Dr. Riad Al Muhaidib, Director of Zayed University; in addition a number of officials at the Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The event will highlight the bilateral relations between both countries and strengthen the cultural, friendship and closeness ties between the Emirati and Greek peoples and is within the framework of the important role played by the cultural diplomacy of the UAE in consolidating the relations between the two countries.
The event began with a welcome speech by Ambassador Al-Raisi, where he welcomed the Emirati and Greek audience, noting the importance of the event in strengthening cultural and artistic interactions between both friendly countries, and opening new fields for creative cooperation and establishing cultural integration between the writers, artists and creative persons from both countries.
Dr. Al Muhaidib asserted the importance of this kind of cultural activity which assist the people to meet and get to know each other's customs up close and form friendships between them.
A short video was shown about the heritage of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, through which light was shed on the values of the country's Founder and his policies and accomplishments in all fields, and an introductory video about Zayed University was shown, in addition to introductory presentations from the UAE and Greek sides about the UAE � Greece Cultural Week, its goals and the most prominent activities and events held within its frame.
Sheikh Salem Al Qassimi said the UAE � Greece Cultural Week establishes a new course of cooperation in the cultural and creative sector, and this event comes with the aim of strengthening the Emirati-Greek cultural dialogue and establishing the extended cultural ties between both friendly countries in addition to shedding light on the rich culture of the UAE.
