Turkish Foreign Ministry Summons French Ambassador

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned today the French Ambassador in Ankara Herve Magro to protest against the French Senate's hosting of members of the YPG organization, the Syrian arm of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Anadolu Agency quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the French Ambassador was informed of Ankara's strong condemnation of the hosting of YPG members and awarding them medals of honor.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry informed the French Ambassador that Ankara renews its aspiration for Paris to take steps in the framework of combating terrorism, and not to allow attempts to legitimize an organization in Syria that is an extension of the banned PKK in Turkiye.

The ministry asked France to support the protection of Turkish borders, the security of Turkish citizens, the protection of the territorial integrity of Syria, and to act in accordance with the spirit of the alliance in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). (QNA)
