Tokyo Stocks End Slightly Higher Tuesday

Tokyo, June 24 (QNA) – Tokyo stocks ended slightly higher Tuesday on investor hopes for Japan’s new growth strategy to be endorsed later in the day, but the market was top-heavy due to selling to lock in recent gains.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 6.96 points, or 0.05%, from Monday at 15,376.24. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.02 points, or 0.08%, higher at 1,268.50, according to Japan’s (Kyodo) News Agency.

Fishery and agriculture, food and air transport issues were among major gainers, while mining, real estate and automaker issues lost ground. (QNA)
