Thunderstorms, High Winds Up to 130 Km Hit Northern Italy

General

Italy's Weather Observatory declared large-scale thunderstorms in northern Italy, passing from the west to the east of the country, and affecting the northeastern province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Heavy rainfall (10-30 mm) and local hailstorms were recorded, and high wind gusts ranging from 100 to 130 km per hour were recorded in several locations at high altitudes in mountains, hills and on the coast.

Since dawn, there have been several severe storms, fallen trees and torn off roofs, with the hardest-hit areas being the hills between Udine and Pordenone regions and the lower plain.

Power outages were recorded in three municipalities, while fallen trees affected the road system and three main roads were cut off.
