The Ministerial Legislative Committee discusses amendments on Anti Human Trafficking Law

Abu Dhabi: The Ministerial Legislative Committee discussed today the federal draft law on the amendment of some Anti Human Trafficking Law. Some amendments include the definition of human trafficking crime, procedures taken during investigation, in addition to some punishments against violation of the provisions.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Hadef bin Joan Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Midfa, Secretary General for the Federal Supreme Council Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Adviser Sultan Rashid Al Matrooshi, Assistant Undersecretary for Fatwa, Legislation and State Issues- Rapporteur of the Committee and Advisor Abdullah Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Anti Human Trafficking Committee were also present in the meeting.

The amendments call for a court to delegate a lawyer in defence of a victim in the human trafficking crimes upon his/her request. The court will specify rights of the lawyer.
