Qatar University (QU) Qatar University (QU) hosted the two-day long eighteenth annual meeting of the institutions of (AArU) on March 2.
During this meeting, a report of the General Secretariat on its activities and an overview of the activities of higher education institutions affiliated with the General Secretariat was reviewed.
The meeting was attended by 31 presidents of the Federation of Arab Universities, including the heads of the Federation of the Arab Council for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Director of the Arab Council for Student Activities, and the Secretary General of the Arab Media Associations. Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, the Union's Secretary-General, spoke in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General, Prof. Khamisi Hamidi, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Rahim Al-Hinti.
Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, began the meeting and wished the attendees a happy new year and thanked Qatar University for hosting the event. Despite the difficult circumstances that the world was in as a result of the Corona pandemic, he continued, the union gave many lectures and virtual workshops for people interested in the union.
The heads of the participating unions introduced themselves and got to know one another, and a number of important issues were discussed, including submitting a report and a brief presentation on the activities of each of the union's councils, a summary of the Journal of the Association of Arab Universities for Research in Higher Education, and the General Secretariat's report on the Journal of Quality Assurance in Higher Education 2021.
The meeting also discussed the role of the affiliated institutions of the federation, as they are the most important pillars of the federation in the performance of its mission.
Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, received the Presidency of the General Secretariat of the Federation in his office at the university before the meeting, and Dr. Khalid Al-Khater, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, attended the opening of the meeting in the university’s premises.
