Telephone call held between HRH the Deputy King and UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs

Manama, A telephone call was held today between the Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, The Rt Hon James Cleverly.

Regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip, were reviewed.

HRH the Deputy King underlined the importance of immediate de-escalation and the protection of civilians.

HRH the Deputy King further noted the importance of opening urgent humanitarian corridors to deliver food, water, electricity and medical aid into the Gaza Strip.

HRH the Deputy King stressed the importance of unifying efforts to ensure de-escalation, and urgent ceasefire that supports regional security and stability, and the interests of regional countries and their citizens.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad noted that lasting peace is the only way for achieving the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, emphasising the need for the global community to unite in support of efforts to consolidate stability, security and prosperity for all the peoples of the region.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad and The Rt Hon Cleverly discussed the longstanding ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, which are based on solid foundations of strategic cooperation.

HRH the Deputy King concluded by highlighting the importance of furthering the Bahrain-UK partnership in line with joint aspirations.
