Doha: Qatar National Team will begin their journey in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by facing Ecuador in the opening match that will be held on Monday, Nov. 21 at Al Bayt Stadium.
The draw, which was held today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, resulted in strong groups competing, with 32 teams looking to win the title on Sunday, Dec. 18, at Lusail Stadium.
During the draw, the Qatari team were placed at the top of Group A along with Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands.
Al Bayt Stadium, which has 60,000 capacity and was delivered by Aspire Zone Foundation, takes its name from tents inhabited by the nomadic people in Qatar and the Gulf region throughout history.
Because it is closely related to Qatari culture, it was characterized by the hospitality that Qatar is famous for. Thus, Al Bayt Stadium will host visitors from all over the world with open arms, providing them with the opportunity to live an experience full of authentic Qatari traditions.
The design of the Stadium celebrates an important part of Qatars past and resembles its present, taking into account future societal requirements, as it is surrounded by various facilities that meet these requirements. Its construction is a model for environmentally friendly development, as the project organizers sought to achieve the sustainability goals determined by Qatar. In addition to being a world-class structure worthy of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, this stadium represents a model in terms of stadium construction in the future.
The draw also resulted in balanced groups as follows: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, and The Netherlands in Group A England, Iran, USA, and (Ukraine/Wales, Scotland) in Group B Argentina, KSA, Mexico, and Poland in Group C France, (UAE/Australia, Peru), Denmark, and Tunisia in Group D Spain, (Costa Rica/New Zealand), Germany, and Japan in Group E Belgium, Canada, Morocco, and Croatia, in Group F Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon in Group G Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea in Group H.
