Statement by HE Omar Saif Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Cultural Affairs, on the occasion of International Day of Human Fraternity

“Three years ago, the UAE was honored to make history in hosting His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb in Abu Dhabi for the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity.

That day has evolved into a meaningful milestone for our nation as we celebrate the critical importance of tolerance, cooperation, and interfaith engagement in fostering peaceful societies that offer all the opportunity to thrive. Today, in commemoration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, we recognize the enduring impact of mutual understanding and dialogue in efforts to craft a better world for our peoples.

Intolerance and extremism will never find a home in the UAE. With more than 200 nationalities living side by side in harmony, the UAE is one of the most pluralistic countries in the world. As our national success is built on openness, inclusiveness, and mutual respect, the UAE celebrates the countless traditions, backgrounds, and beliefs that make our nation so diverse. To recall the values that unite us across our differences is to honor our shared humanity on this day and advance the cause of peace for generations to come.”
