Six Killed in Landslide in Georgia

At least six people were killed, and more than 30 others are missing today due to a landslide in the mountainous region of Racha, northwestern Georgia.

The Georgian Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that six bodies were found following the landslide, and rescue teams are continuing their efforts to search for survivors in the disaster area.

Erekle Karseladze, the Georgian Minister of Infrastructure, confirmed that over 30 people are missing and cannot be reached.

The landslide occurred yesterday near a hotel in a small tourist resort in the mountains of Racha region, causing damage to houses, electricity lines, roads, and bridges.

The Ministry of Interior mentioned that for the second day, search and rescue operations are ongoing with the participation of around 400 firefighters, rescue personnel, and members of various police units.

The ministry added that their personnel are actively evacuating citizens from the disaster area, and more than 140 people have been evacuated so far.
