SINKING OF A LOCOMOTIVE AFTER COLLIDING WITH A TANKER CROSSING THE SUEZ CANAL, WHILE MARINE RESCUE TEAM WORKS TO RECOVER IT

The head of the Suez Canal Authority in Egypt, Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie, announced today, Saturday, that the marine rescue team and the crane had been sent to recover the tug "Fahd" as a result of its collision with one of the tankers passing through the canal, according to "Russia Today" news agency. Rabie stated that marine rescue work is underway to deal with the collision of the tanker "CHINAGAS LEGEND" and the locomotive "Fahd" of the authority at kilometer 51 in Al-Balah area, which resulted in the sinking of the latter. The head of the authority stated that the collision occurred during the transit of the tanker within the convoy of the south coming from Singapore and heading to Hong Kong, with the locomotive "Fahd" of the authority within the Al-Balah region, which led to cracks in the body of the locomotive and water leakage into it, then it sank.
