Silwan: Occupation forces force Jerusalemite family to demolish their home

General

Jerusalem - Ma'an - The Al-Wahidi family continues to demolish their home in the town of Silwan, by their own hands, by a decision from the occupation municipality, under the pretext of building without a permit. The owner of the house, Latifa Al-Wahidi, explained that the occupation municipality recently stormed the house and threatened to demolish it if the demolition was not carried out. The family was forced to proceed with the demolition to avoid paying new fines. Al-Wahidi explained that the occupation municipality, over the past years, imposed building fines on them worth 150 thousand shekels, and the family committed to paying them, yet the final demolition decision was issued. She explained that the house, which had been standing for 30 years, housed 6 people before it was demolished. In recent weeks, the occupation municipality has escalated the demolition operations in the city of Jerusalem, forcing residents to demolish their facilities with their own hands or having its machinery and crews do so. The occupation municipality crews, accompanied by the Israeli police, also carry out daily raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, photograph facilities and streets, and deliver summonses to visit the municipality.
