Shura Council delegation participates in WPL Summit

The Shura Council delegation, taking part in the Women Political Leaders Summit 2023 in Brussels, underlined Bahrain’s exemplary strides in women empowerment. They pointed out the advanced system of national legislation, which helped engage women in the legislative, executive and judicial fields as well as the civil society institutions. They took pride in the tremendous support given to Bahraini women by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

This came in a speech delivered by Shura Council member, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Women Political Leaders (WPL) Summit, Dr. Ibtissem Al-Dalal. The summit is organized by the European Parliament and the Belgian Federal Parliament. The Shura Council delegation is led by Dr. Fatima Al-Kooheji, the Head of the Women and Child Affairs Committee, and comprises in its membership dr. Ibtissem Al-Dalal and Leena Habib Qassim.

Al-Dalal stressed Bahraini women’s remarkable contributions to all development domains, pointing out the kingdom’s keenness on achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs), including mainly goal five on gender equality. She affirmed the pioneering role of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King.
