Seven Dead, 13 Missing after Indonesian Boat Sinks

Jakarta, July 31 (QNA) – Six children and one adult were reported dead and 13 others missing when a boat carrying 47 people sank in a river in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province, an official said Thursday.

Spokesman of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the boat sank late Wednesday evening on the Berombang River after it ran out of gas and was swept away by the strong current.

“The seven dead passengers have been found, while authorities are still scouring the river to find the 13 missing people,” Nugroho said.(QNA)
