Saudi Foreign Minister Calls on His Danish Counterpart to Stop Acts of Desecrating Holy Quran

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah called on the Copenhagen authorities, during a telephone conversation today with his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen, to take immediate measures to stop the desecration acts against the Holy Quran that attempt to undermine the heavenly books and provoke the feelings of Muslims around the world.

During the call, the Saudi Foreign Minister reiterated his country's total rejection of these extremist acts, pointing out that extremists have exploited freedom of expression to incite hatred, and that they do not only seek to criticize the Islamic religion, but rather their goal is to provoke the Islamic societies, which may not serve Denmark at the international level, adding that the beneficiaries of these practices are only extremists.

For his part, Rasmussen expressed his country's condemnation of attempts to burn copies of the Holy Quran, expressing his regret over these provocative acts. He added that his government had previously expressed its condemnation of these practices. (QNA)
