Saudi authorities announced today that an armed man was killed in a shootout with security forces in front of the US Consulate in Jeddah.
Saudi Press Agency reported the media spokesman of Makkah police as saying that the assailant parked his car near the US consulate and got out carrying a firearm. The competent security authorities took the initiative to deal with him as required and the exchange of fire resulted in his death, he added.
The spokesman added that the shootout between the assailant and the security forces resulted in injuring a Nepalese working with the security guards of the consulate who died shortly later, adding that an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident and its circumstances is ongoing.
