Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s EZZAT NAFS wins Rodat Al Maida Cup

Closing out the Rodat Al Maida Cup day’s action, Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s homebred EZZAT NAFS (QA) (AF AlBahar x Bint Al Ajwad) took the Rodat Al Maida Cup for trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed under an excellent ride from Szczepan Mazur. The 5YO mare took the 1100m Conditions for 4YO+ Purebred Arabians by three lengths wrapping up the 44th race meeting of the 2021-22 season at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) Al Rayyan Racecourse sand track on Wednesday, 23 March. The Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mishal Bin Hamad Al Thani-owned and Mohammed Ghazali-trained LEKHRAIB (QA) (AF AlBahar) finished second under Marco Casamento, further six lengths in front the Sharida Bin Nasser Bin Sharida Al Kaabi-owned SHGARDE (USA) (AF AlBahar), trained by the winning trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed, who was ridden by Alberto Sanna.

Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, presented the trophies to the winners.

I AM THUNDER

In the penultimate race, Yousuf Mubarak Al Kuwari’s I AM THUNDER (IRE) (Night Of Thunder x Martine’s Spirit) was a powerful winner of the 1100m Conditions for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds. Saddled by Hamad Al Jehani, the 5YO drew four and a quarter lengths clear at the line under Alberto Sanna, who doubled up on the day having ridden the winner of the second race earlier on the day.

IMMORAL

In the sixth race, Al Azraq Stable’s IMMORAL (IRE) (Helmet x Loose Julie) had a straightforward victory in the 1900m Handicap (0-90) for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds. Having settled in the rear, the Mohammed Ghazali-trained 6YO made a smooth headway to the front, under Marco Casamento, to pull clear by impressive six lengths of the field.

DOHA INCANTO

In the fifth race, the 1100m Handicap (0-85) for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds went the way of Fahad Rashid Al Hajri’s DOHA INCANTO (NZ) (Per Incanto x La Serenissime), from the stable of Owaida Salem Al Hajri, as the 7YO picked up strongly under Meteb Ali Al Saaq to run out a comfortable one and three-quarter length victory.

SHEIKHA

There was a very thrilling in the fourth race as the Handicap (0-80) for 4YO+ Local Thoroughbreds went to Al Ezz Stud as the Saeed Al Shafi-trained and Lukas Delozier-ridden SHEIKHA (QA) (Leroidesanimaux / Soiree D’ete) took the 1200m contest by a head from the Nasser Owaida Salem Al Hajri-owned and Owaida Salem Al Hajri-trained DOGHAN (QA), who was ridden by Faleh Bughanaim.

JOIN FORCES

In the third race, Noora Racing Limited’s JOIN FORCES (IRE) (Lethal Force x Enrol) continued her recent good run of form and doubled her tally in the 1200m Handicap (0-70) for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds. Ridden by Tomas Lukasek, the 4YO filly came two lengths clear of the rest recording a quick double on the day for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki following his success in the opener of the day.

SEETA AL NAIF

In the second race, the Handicap (0-65) for 4YO+ Local Purebred Arabians saw a stunning performance from Al Naif Racing’s homebred SEETA AL NAIF (QA) (Arkan Al Naif x Fleur De France), who ran away with the 1700m race, bolting up by seven and three quarter lengths, the longest winning margin of the day, under Alberto Sanna for trainer Georgina Ward.

AYAATH ALSRAIYA

The day began with the 1700m Handicap (0-65) for 4YO+ Thoroughbreds and Al Sraiya Stud’s AYAATH ALSRAIYA (FR) (Style Vendome x New Saaboog), trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki, turned over a new leaf to end a run of 10 starts without a victory and shed his maiden tag by one and three quarter lengths under a clever ride from Ronan Thomas.
