Russian Upper House Speaker Welcomes Ukraine President’s Plans for Peaceful Settlement

Ulan-Bator, June 23 (QNA) – Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council upper house of parliament Valentina Matviyenko welcomed Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s plans for peaceful settlement of the conflict in the southeast of the country, but she believes that these statements should be fixed in state documents.

“It is needed to realize that no one already believes in words, but believes in actions, facts, and we would like positive signals which are coming from the Ukrainian president now to be fixed in state documents and so that no one doubts that they will be fulfilled,” the speaker of the upper house of Russian parliament told (ITAR-TASS).

“There is no alternative to peaceful settlement of current crisis in Ukraine and it is clear for anybody,” Matviyenko said.

“Any peaceful plan can be welcomed, because finally there is understanding that this decision is needed,” the Federation Council speaker said, adding that “One step forward and then two steps back cannot be made.” (QNA)
