Russian President Receives Credentials of Qatar’s Ambassador

HE President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin received the credentials of HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Thani as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation.

HE the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to HE the President of the Russian Federation, wishing him good health and happiness, and the Russian government and people continued progress and prosperity.

For his part, HE the President of the Russian Federation entrusted HE the Ambassador to convey his greetings to HH the Amir, wishing him good health and happiness, and the State of Qatar continued progress, development and prosperity.

HE the President of the Russian Federation also wished HE the Ambassador success in his duties, assuring him of providing all support to advance the bilateral relations between the two countries to closer cooperation in various fields.

In a speech during an official ceremony held in the Kremlin today, HE the President of the Russian Federation said: "I have a very good relationship with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. HH the Amir has been invited to visit Russia, and we will implement this plan."

He noted that Russia is closely cooperating with Qatar on the organization and holding of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, adding: "Our agenda of interaction with the State of Qatar is quite rich. It includes promoting investment partnerships and joint efforts to reveal the potential of cooperation in trade and the economy."

His Excellency pointed out that a representative Qatari delegation will take part in the St Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2021.
