Russian Ebeko Volcano Spews Ash

Volcano Ebeko in Russia's Paramushir Island spewed a plume of ash reaching a height of 3 km, the main department of the Russian Foreign Ministry in the Sakhalin region announced.

A statement from the department said on Sunday that the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that an ash column extended in a northeast direction for a distance of more than 5 km from the volcano.

The Ebeko volcano (1156 m) is located on the Paramushir island seven kilometers north-west from Russian Severo-Kurilsk.

Ash emission incidents occur in it starting in 2016. The largest ash emission incident was recorded on Aug. 31, 2018, when a column of ash rose to 6 km from a new volcanic vent formed in 2017.
