A Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) team has developed an AI humanoid robot that can pilot airplanes without having to modify the cockpit.
The robot, named “Pibot”, can use high-precision control technology to operate the flight instruments. Thanks to its large memory, the robot can memorize all Jeppesen navigation charts.
According to the researchers, Pibot is expected to operate error-free flight with its abilities to react to emergencies far quicker than human pilots.
The research team is also testing Pibot’s own natural language model so that it can make queries without relying on an Internet connection.
