Manama, A telephone call was held today between the Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the President of the State of Palestine, His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas.
During the call, His Royal Highness extended the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to HE Abbas.
The Deputy King emphasised that supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people supports security and peace.
His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of providing humanitarian relief, food, water, electricity, and medical aid into the Gaza Strip, and upholding the protection of civilians under international humanitarian laws.
His Royal Highness emphasised the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm position, highlighting the importance of a just solution on the Palestinian issue, through promoting and supporting comprehensive peace efforts. This should lead toward a two-state solution in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, and that peace and adherence to the Initiative are the only way to help ensure the Palestinian people’s rights to establish an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
