QU OFFERS ONLINE COURSE ON ‘THE HUMAN BEING IN ISLAM’

In the latest chapter of many achievements ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Qatar University (QU) is launching the online course ‘The Human Being in Islam’ as one of three massive open online courses (MOOCs) on the ‘edX’ worldwide e-learning platform, which also includes the Arabic for Non-Arabic Speakers course and the Qatar History and Heritage course.

The course ‘The Human Being in Islam’ offers an exploratory journey into the topic of the human being (insan) in Islam. It focuses on the nature of the human being, the constituents of the human being and how Islam approaches them as well as their relationship to the higher objectives of their existence.

The course, which is taught by QU’s College of Sharia and Islamic Studies professors, was launched following positive feedback from the University’s Islamic Culture course, which is a general requirement for all of QU’s undergraduate students. Consequently, the University put forward this large-scale online course aimed at introducing a part of the Islamic culture as well as the importance of instructing about the essence of the human being and their purpose in the civilizational act.

As part of efforts to expand the university’s leadership role, the relevant bodies in QU constructed the three courses in order to provide online curriculum that enables learners to absorb the contents effectively. For this reason, the course ‘The Human Being in Islam’ was designed, taking into account the various challenges the recipient might face and links the learner with a number of academic materials in Arabic and English via videos, as well as multiple texts and examples. The course also links the exam questions to the course's themes, vocabulary and objectives.
