Al Sailiya recorded a valuable 4-0 victory over Al Ahli in Week 20 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League at the Al Ahli Stadium on Saturday.
Sergio Vittor (34th minute), Sergio Carlos (61st and 86th minutes) and Hassan Ahmed Palang (90+5 minute) scored the goals.
Al Sailiya raised their tally to 13 points in 12th place and narrowed the gap with Umm Salal to three points (11th with 16 points), who suffered a loss against Al Duhail, two weeks before the end of this season's league.
Al Ahli completed the match with 10 players from the 58th minute after Jordanian striker Yazan Al Naimat received a second booking.
Al Sailiya applied pressure from the start to score and, in the 18th minute, from a quick counter-attack, Sergio Carlos hit a powerful ball, but it was off target.
On the other hand, Al Ahli were a bit backward in attacks, but they made an attempt in the 30th minute. However, Al Sailiya goalkeeper Claude Amine thwarted Al Naimat.
Meanwhile, Al Sailiya surged ahead in the 34th minute through Vittor's powerful shot, which Yazan Naim was unable to stop.
In the second half, Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovocic made several changes in an attempt to come back into the game, but Al Sailiya managed to score three more goals and took advantage of Al Naimat's expulsion.
