As part of the State of Qatar's response to the devastating earthquake that hit Turkiye and Syria in February 2023, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) delivered the final batch of the mobile homes used to shelter the affected communities.

Over the course of three months following the earthquake, QFFD delivered 10,000 fully furnished, insulated shelters to over 15 different cities and towns across Southeast Turkiye, QFFD said in a statement today.

Unprecedented in its magnitude and level of destruction in recent history, the earthquake caused the death of over sixty thousand people and left many more injured in both Turkiye and Syria. Thousands of buildings were destroyed, and many others were rendered unsafe for living.

Accompanied by freezing temperatures and harsh winter weather, tens of thousands of people were left without shelter, warmth, and means of livelihood. To alleviate these struggles, Qatar Fund and its strategic partners mobilized immediate emergency aid in the form of hot meals, food baskets, medicine, and shelter.

Qatar Fund continues to improve the livelihood of vulnerable communities worldwide by providing the necessary aid to save lives, give hope, and promote peace and justice through sustainable and inclusive development.
