Bogota: Team Qatar weightlifter Fares Ibrahim secured two medals (one gold and one silver) in the 102-kg weight competitions of the ongoing 2022 World Weightlifting Championship in Colombia's capital Bogota.
Ibrahim lifted a total weight of 391kg to take the gold medal. Reza Dehdar of Iran finished second on 177-213-390 and Samvel Gasparyan of Armenia took the third place on 175-214-389.
In the clean and jerk, Artyom Antropov of Kazakhstan won gold, Ibrahim was second on 217kg with his only lift, and Bekdoolot Rasulbekov of Kyrgyzstan took bronze, also on 217kg.
Ibrahim is one of the Arab world's most prominent weightlifters. He won the gold medal of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
