Qatar was ranked first among Arab countries and 22nd overall in the Global Food Security Index 2018, released by The Economist Intelligence Unit.
The index considers the core issues of affordability, availability, and quality across a set of 113 countries.
The Global Food Security Index is a dynamic quantitative and qualitative benchmarking model, constructed from 28 unique indicators, that measures these drivers of food security across both developing and developed countries.
HE Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment, said in a speech given during a ceremony to honor agricultural producers that the sector was developing greatly, with rapid growth in agricultural, animal and fish products.
