Qatar Marks World Teachers’ Day

Doha, October 05 (QNA) – Qatar marked on Friday the World Teachers’ Day by honouring 21 teachers at a ceremony held at the St. Regis Hotel. The honouring ceremony was held in the presence and under the patronage of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-President of the Supreme Education Council. It was also attended by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, several ministers and officials as well as students and their parents.
Organised under the slogan ‘Honor Your Teacher’, the World Teachers’ Day was held for the first time this year by SEC to show support for the crucial role teachers have in the society and in recognition of their efforts in in the field of education.
21 teachers, among which 15 are Qataris, were honoured today according to standards and criteria the Council already set. Two long-serving Qataris were among those honored as they have been teaching since 1977.
During a meeting on the occasion, HE Sheikha Hind congratulated the honorees for their excellent job and wished them further progress in their education journey.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education gave a speech on the occasion in which he highlighted the role of the teacher in building the future generation. (QNA)
