Qatar Delegate to UNESCO: Qatar Maintains its Heritage

Doha, June 18 (QNA) – HE Ali Zainal, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the State of Qatar to UNESCO said that Qatar is maintaining its heritage and it has its own national vision concerning development that could be achieved through the creative efforts and progress in the areas of education, economy and preservation of cultural heritage, which is an essential partner in the sustainable development process in the country.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency ( QNA) on the sidelines of the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee , which currently held in Doha,in cooperation between the State of Qatar and UNESCO through the efforts of HH Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned , UNESCO Special Envoy on basic and higher education, HE Ambassador Zainal lauded Qatari government’s initiative to support $ 10 million to UNESCO’s emergency that confirms the state’s concern over the human heritage in light of the natural disasters , conflicts and wars.

He asserted that the state also concerns with young people and their archaeological sites and cultural heritage so as not to miss communication between generations and at the same time organizing school trips to children to various archaeological sites so as to make them deal with Heritage as part of their culture , praising the role of the cultural institutions that work to instill these positive concepts in brains of our citizens , young people and children.

The Qatari senior official said the nature of work in UNESCO is a collective action through the study of the projects and programs that concern to all UNESCO Member States through the Organization’s General assembly which is held once every two years and discuss all issues and projects presented by the states, preceded by meetings of the UNESCO Board Executive.(QNA)
