The Friends Cultural Center (FCC), a Qatar Charity's (QC) community development center, organized an entertainment day for the children from the expat communities, in which some 75 students from 10 schools participated.
The entertainment day was organized during the current mid-academic year vacation, and on this occasion, many activities were held, which included various arts, reading stories and poems, cultural competitions, cooking programmes and many other meaningful activities.
Habeeburahiman, direct of the FCC, said the entertainment day focused on raising cultural awareness among children aged 4-10 years, developing their talents, broadening their experiences and utilizing leisure time during school holidays by holding educational and entertainment programs, which are aimed at creating a social atmosphere for children to share their talents with peers.
Liji Abdulla, the coordinator of the programmes held during the entertainment day, underscored the importance of children's participation in such activities to improve their skills and discover new young talents, which will contribute to building a useful and beneficial generation.
She also added that such events play a crucial role in strengthening cultural and social ties, promoting communication between the members of the communities, and upgrading the educational levels of the participating children.
The children expressed their happiness at participating in the event and said they looked forward to more activities in the future. Parents also applauded FCC's activities for their children during the holidays, which brought together the joy and knowledge.
FCC is one of QC's community development centers, which was established by the charity in 2004 to strengthen the cultural interaction among members of the various Asian communities living in Qatar. The center has benefited more than 46,500 people over the past three years.
FCC organizes activities for all components of the Asian communities in Qatar, including men, women, children and students. The center includes a library containing thousands of books in a number of languages.
The center holds its activities in social, cultural, educational areas, in addition to attaching great attention to family-related programmes and supporting workers through various projects and programmes throughout the year.
