Qatar Charity implements ‘Feed the Fasting’ project in Somalia

Qatar Charity (QC), as part of its ‘Ramadan of Hope, drive, continues to implement the ‘Feed the Fasting’ project in many countries, including Somalia, where it has recently distributed food packages to 1,500 underprivileged families.

The distributed food packages include essential food items sufficient for a beneficiary family for a whole month. Qatar Charity, through this project, seeks to contribute to lessening the plight of the beneficiaries and meeting their needs in the holy month of Ramadan.

The vulnerable in Somalia has welcomed the blessed month of Ramadan amid a challenging living and humanitarian situation, as they were adversely affected by the successive droughts caused by the below-average rainy seasons. The escalating prices of essential items have further worsened the situation of the underprivileged who have no stable income source.

The distribution of the Ramadan food packages took place in the IDP camps in the outskirts of Mogadishu, which are crowded with the poor and the deprived, and in Somaliland. Other 5,600 food packages will be delivered to 5,600 families in the next few days.

The ‘Feed the Fasting’ in Somalia benefits underprivileged families, as well as orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity, their families and the most vulnerable people. The food packages are distributed by the field teams of Qatar Charity’s Somalia office. The project targets nearly 40,000 beneficiaries over the month.

The beneficiaries of the project expressed their delight with receiving the food packages that brought joy and happiness to them and restored their hope.

Eid Clothing

In addition to distributing the food packages, Qatar Charity’s Somalia office continues to implement the ‘Eid Clothing’ project for the benefit of 440 orphaned boys and girls sponsored by Qatar Charity in Somalia to bring the joy of Eid to them.

The ‘Feed the Fasting’ project is part of Qatar Charity’s ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive, which is being implemented in 39 countries around the world. Some 1.1 million people worldwide are expected to benefit from the Ramadan drive.

The Ramadan campaign includes many projects such as the ‘Feed the Fasting’ project (food packages and Iftar meals), Zakat al Fitr, Eid Clothing. The campaign focuses on crisis-hit areas and poverty-stricken communities.
