Qatar Charity constructs water filtration plant in Pakistan

Qatar Charity (QC) constructed a water filtration plant in 17 Ghag village located in Jhang district of Pakistan’s Punjab province to provide nearly 3500 people with safe drinking water. Besides, Qatar Charity has installed 100 electric water coolers with water filtration systems in various government schools and buildings of Jhang and Muzaffargarh, both districts in Punjab province, to benefit 15000 people.

The people of the village 17-Ghagh, where the water plant was constructed, suffered from various water-borne diseases, due to the high level of TDS.

“We are grateful to Qatar Charity for providing us with safe drinking water by installing a water filtration plant,” said Mr. Muhammad Imran, the president of the Village WASH Committee, indicating that the people of the village suffered a lot from water-borne diseases. He added that due to this water plant, safe drinking water is available in the village.

Mr. Shahid Abbas Joya, Deputy Commissioner of Shorkot sub-district, stated that Qatar Charity’s projects contributed to improving the living conditions of people in the area where it has been working for a long time.

It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity has implemented many projects in Shorkot sub-district, including solar water pump, income generation, and WASH projects, in addition to providing assistive devices for persons with disabilities (PWDs), and implementing health and education projects.

The beneficiaries expressed their delight with the water filtration plant constructed in their village.

“It was very difficult for me to carry water from a distance of 3 kilometers away from my home,” said Akhtari Bibi, a widow, adding “I am very grateful to Qatar Charity and its team for making my life easy.”

“My children were fetching water twice a day, and could not get time to play and study,” said Kaneezan, another beneficiary, indicating that they are performing well academically due to the availability of clean and safe water near their house.

Besides, Qatar Charity (QC) installed 100 electric water coolers with water filter systems in the mosques and government buildings and schools in Pakistan’s Punjab province. The water coolers, which were installed in Jhang and Muzaffargarh, both districts in Punjab province, are expected to benefit 15000 people

“I appreciate Qatar Charity’s efforts in providing clean and cold drinking water in our schools,” said Mr. Kausar Shah, a government official for education in Muzaffargarh, adding that the schools needed such water coolers that are a valued addition to them. He also added that this intervention will not only provide cold and clean drinking water, but will also protect children from water bore diseases.

“Qatar Charity implements projects that meet the needs of the community, in cooperation with the officials of the district,” said Mr. Azhar Abbas, Deputy Director of Social welfare in Jhang. “Qatar Charity’s efforts are highly appreciated and we will extend our full cooperation in future” Abbas added.

“Now we can enjoy cold drinking water the whole day, especially in summer,” said Saidia, a fifth-grader at a government school.
