Qatar Charity celebrated the reunification of the last three Afghan children with their families in the capital of Qatar, Doha, after the State of Qatar evacuated their families from Afghanistan after a seven-month separation, thus ending Qatar Charity's mission of looking after 260 Afghan minors separated from their family members.
On this occasion, the CEO of Qatar Charity received the three children and their families at a luncheon on Thursday, March 31, in the presence of the French Ambassador, Jean-Baptiste Favre, to congratulate them on their reunion during the month of Ramadan and to renew Qatar Charity's commitment to ensuring the rights of vulnerable children wherever they are.
Mr. Yousef Al-Kuwari Said: "We are pleased to reunite the last three children who have been under the care of Qatar Charity since August 2021 with their families, and we express our pride in our belonging to the Qatari community that answered our call to volunteer within hours and worked tirelessly for months.
He added "Qatar Charity is today one of the largest organizations in the world that works to provide support to vulnerable children, orphans, and others, to ensure that they live with dignity and protect them from all kinds of exploitation.
Mr. Yousef Al-Kuwari also thanked all the partners that contributed to providing medical, psychological, and social support services for children, such as the Qatar Center for Social Work, Jill Abhoro organization, Qatar Foundation, and Hamad Medical Corporation.
This step comes after the State of Qatar chose Qatar Charity as the main organization responsible for coordinating the care and services provided to unaccompanied Afghan children, based on its experience in caring for and protecting children for 37 years, and it is closely linked with the Afghan people.
Qatar Charity was established as a community initiative in the State of Qatar In 1984; under the name “Qatar Committee for Orphan Sponsors” sponsor children who lost their parents during the Afghanistan war.
