President’s Initiatives Committee approves granting houses to 1,480 citizens

ABU DHABI, 30 November 2013 (WAM) – In line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Follow up Committee of Initiatives of UAE President has issued the final approval for granting houses in different emirates to1,480 eligible applicants who satisfied all statutory requirements to get houses.

The eligible applicants represent 1st and 2nd batches of the citizens to be granted houses under orders by His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The approval coincides with the country’s celebrations of its 42nd national day anniversary.

During a meeting held under the chairmanship of Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs, the Committee has also released a preliminary list of 1,553 citizens, representing the 3rd batch of eligible applicants for houses and asked them to report to the Ministry of Public Works to complete their transactions for final approval.

Also approved was a list of 80 citizens entitled to houses in Al Bidiya area of Fujairah and 37 citizens entitled to houses in Dibba Al Hosn of Sharjah.

The committee discussed other items on the meeting’s agenda and took appropriate decisions on them.

Al Zaabi said the committee had endorsed the budget for phase 3 on the initiatives and submitted findings and recommendations to H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, who will in return, submit them to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“Provision of proper housing to the citizens of the UAE has always been a top priority for President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The recent lists are considered the largest ever released,” he added.

Al Zaabi said the committee had reviewed the progress of works in the projects being carried out as part of the initiatives and is satisfied with the performance. The completed projects, built at a total cost of AED 6 billion, span hospitals, clinics, health centres, roads, bridges, dams, houses and mosques “Citizens are already starting to benefit from the projects. We look forward to seeing progress going by the same pace in the remaining projects to achieve the objectives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s initiatives.” The 3rd phase works are mainly focused on housing projects for citizens. They include construction and renovation of 10,000 houses. They also entail, under Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s orders, construction of 2,500 houses in different areas. The new houses boast world-class, best architectural design, and fully-serviced residential communities, with all requirements of sustainability and green buildings taken into consideration.

The committee will also perform maintenance and complete renovation to around 1,000 houses in the remote areas to ensure that every means of decent living are provided to citizens there.

Meanwhile, work has been completed on the Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The hospital, with an award-winning design, was built at a total cost of over AED 1 billion.

The committee is also preparing to appoint an international consultant for the designing of the Sheikh Khalifa Trauma Hospital in Sharjah, the first of its king in the Arabian Gulf region.

The committee is also working on a number of projects to build mosques in different areas of the country, including the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Fujairah and Khalufa Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah.

Al Zaabi praised the performance of the different teams working on the President’s initiatives.

The committee meeting was attended by Mohamed Abdullah Al Romaithi, Jabr Al Suwaidi, Saeed Mohamed Al Miqbali, Abdullah Saif Al Nuaimi, Mohamed Mohamed Saleh, Hassan Al Mansouri and Ali Dhamnai.
