Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called for international protection for the Palestinian people to stop their intimidation and targeting. He warned of a serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza and expressed concern about forced displacement attempts, practices rejected by the world, international law, and international humanitarian law. He emphasized Egypt’s rejection of liquidating the Palestinian issue.

During the opening of the Cairo Peace Summit 2023, El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s deep astonishment that the world stands by as a catastrophic humanitarian crisis befalls 2.5 million Palestinians in Gaza as they face collective punishment, a siege, starvation, and severe pressure to force them into forced displacement, in practices rejected by the civilized world, which has concluded agreements and established international law and international humanitarian law to criminalize them. He reiterated the need for providing international protection for the Palestinian people and innocent civilians.

The Egyptian president emphasized that the world should not accept using humanitarian pressure to force displacement, reiterating Egypt’s rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians to Egyptian lands in Sinai.

He stressed that this is nothing but a liquidation to the Palestinian issue, an end to the dream of an independent Palestinian state, and a waste of the struggle of the Palestinian people, Arab and Islamic nations, and all the free people of the world throughout the 75 years, which is the age of the Palestinian issue.

He underlined that anyone who thinks that this proud and steadfast people wants to leave their land is wrong in understanding the nature of the Palestinian people, even if this land is under occupation or bombing.

El-Sisi emphasized the need to develop a road map aimed at ending the current humanitarian catastrophe and reviving the peace process. He pointed out that this road map includes guaranteeing full, safe, rapid, and sustainable flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza and proceeding immediately to negotiate a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities. He added it aims to urgently start negotiations to revive the peace process, leading to a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel on the basis of international legitimacy, while fully supporting the legitimate Palestinian authority in carrying out its duties fully in Palestinian territories.
