Parliamentary delegation discusses Bahrain’s achievements at IPU meetings in Geneva

Geneva, Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation, led by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, held a coordination meeting to discuss the delegation’s participation in the 149th IPU Assembly and related meetings, scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 13-17.

The delegation reviewed the IPU Assembly’s agenda and the coordination meetings between Arab and Asian parliaments, as well as workshops, discussion sessions, and the meetings of the Association of Secretaries General of National Parliaments.

The delegation also reviewed the main theme of the 149th IPU Assembly, where heads and representatives of parliaments will speak on leveraging science and technology for a more peaceful and sustainable future.

The delegation discussed topics to be covered by the IPU’s standing committees, including workshops and discussions on the role of parliaments in advancing the two-state solution in Palestine, parliamentary development, equal opportunities, children’s rights, art
ificial intelligence’s impact on democracy and human rights, climate change, disarmament, conflict mitigation, and practical tools for achieving sustainable development and strengthening parliamentary work during conflicts.
